    Descendants of Kadish Annenberg and Russel (Annenberg) and son Barnett Annenberg and Sarah Becker and David's First Wife, name unknown.

 

Additional Information: Sarah's parents are Moses Becker and Hannah Cohen.  Sarah also had a sister, name unknown, who married a   Friedman and their daughter's names is Dora Friedman. That is all the information I currently have on Sarah's parents and sibling's.   Please see the below link to the Becker Cohen Annenberg Family Home Page. The only duplicate information is on the Annenberg's. The Becker/Cohen information is the most current available.  The 1900 Census has Sarah Becker born in May 1840 in Russia.

The Annenberg's also came from Russia. They were part of the migration from Germany to Russia. I have been told the my branch of the family came from and Saratov, Ukraine.
Family legend has the family going from Germany to Russia to the United States and the place they lived in Russia was Archangel, Russia. Other branches of the Annenberg Family went to England,  Australia, and I believe Brazil and South Africa.  The town in Germany that I believe we came from was the town of Anna. The name of Annenberg came about because they lived by the berg of Anna (Hill of village of Anna) in Germany. My branch went to Brooklyn, NY.

Barnett's son Moses stayed in Brooklyn and went into the marble business. His son Sol was also in the marble business. While Moses' family stayed in the New York City area, the rest of them spread out across the country. Alfred was a lawyer, Assistant District Attorney and  a  Department Head,  for Queens County, NY and an Assistant Attorney General for the State of New York. Moses also has a Nanny,  Annie Phillips born  Jan 1881  Russia. Annie's Year of Immigration 1898.

We are looking for information about the following companies, Annenberg and Sons and Annenberg Bros.  They were in business in the early 1890's in Brooklyn, NY.   Please go to the following link,  Company Most Wanted List   to find out more information.

George and Solomon were in the  Watchmaker Jeweler business.

Joseph and  Abraham were in the furniture business. Possibly as salesman.

According to the 1900  United Census, the head of the family's name is Barnett Annenberg, born January 1835 in Russia.  We thought  his name was originally David Bernard Annenberg. Mt Zion Cemetery, Queens County, NY list's him as Barnett. His Death Certificate list's his name as Barnett, age 65.  His wife Sarah's Death Certificate and son Moses' Death Certificate list his name as Bernard. Other family documents list his name as David Bernard Annenberg.
